JSONC can stand in for TOML config files
JSONC is JSON that allows comments (and usually trailing commas). That covers the main reason people reach for TOML in config files: notes next to the settings.
Wrangler reads wrangler.jsonc in place of wrangler.toml:
{
// the Worker's name
"name": "my-worker",
"compatibility_date": "2026-10-01"
}
And you keep the same JSON tooling and editor support.
